Médecine conventionnelle et médecine complémentaire
Laurel McEwen est une anthropologue et ethnologue américaine. Elle a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en 2019, après un long travail de terrain. Une analyse anthropologique de la relation entre la médecine conventionnelle et la médecine complémentaire en France, en regard avec les avancées aux États-Unis.
Elle décortique les ficelles complexes de cette relation en France, où bon nombre de pratiques complémentaires s’épanouissent, dans un contexte trop souvent hostile et fermé d’une médecine institutionnalisée. Elle éclaire également les préoccupations financières et politiques du système de santé publique, l’interrelation entre la science, la médecine et la société.
Santé intégrative
Ses recherches mettent également en lumière les stéréotypes à démanteler afin de créer une nouvelle manière de concevoir la santé. Comment améliorer le rapport aux patients et entrer dans une approche globale de la santé ? Et cela au cœur d’une médecine encore trop compartimentée et ultra spécialisée, toujours plus compétente en matière de technologie, mais à bout de souffle dans sa prise en charge de l’humain.
Bousculer les idéologies et repenser la manière de concevoir la maladie, un véritable changement de paradigme qui engage le besoin d’un profond bouleversement de la société.
